It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our founder, Joseph (“Joe”) Stanley Pieciak Jr., who died peacefully on April 3, 2026, surrounded by his family. 

Joe founded Pieciak & Company in 1983 and built it into one of Southern Vermont’s most respected accounting firms. More than a leader, he was a mentor, a trusted advisor, and a friend to generations of clients and colleagues. His commitment to personal service, integrity, and community shaped not only this firm, but the many lives he touched over the years. 

Joe cared deeply about Brattleboro and served the community he loved for more than five decades. His legacy lives on in the relationships he built, the values he instilled, and the work we carry forward each day. 

We are committed to honoring Joe’s legacy by continuing to provide the thoughtful, reliable, and personal service that defined his approach. 

Service Information 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 16, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Atamaniuk Funeral Home (40 Terrace Street) in Brattleboro. 

A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 17, at 1:00 PM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Brattleboro, with burial immediately following at St. Michael’s Cemetery. 

A celebration of life reception will follow the services, with the location to be announced in the coming days.
